A summers night, a free outdoor concert, 100,000 people... and the finale was magic: Bohemian Rhapsody performed by the CSO, the NZ Army Band, twelve male singers, a choir, a song and dance troupe, and with synchronised fireworks.

Sorry to be a downer, but I thought the CS finale was downright awful... however, I was sitting at the back. The sound was week and too bright, and the mix lacked bass. The CSO were great, but all the various other groups created a big muddle. And the guitar work was generally pretty poor. Generally, the "contemporary" (wasn't this concert meant to be "classical"?) lead up to the too-long intermission beginning with the always cringe-worthy "The Final Countdown" was an unmitigated cheese-fest. The fireworks were brilliant, though, and well worth the admission fee.
